RAY BAYONA               Vocals

The son of the clave and the hide of a drum was born on the day he needed to be born and is going to die when it's his turn. Ray's professional career began at the age of 18 after winning a contest singing the music that is his life and passion.  In 1991, Ray traveled from his native Ecuador to New York.  With this move, he fulfilled his dream to arrive at the Big Apple and continue singing the music that he loves so much.

In New York, Ray continued studying music at the Harbor Performing Arts Center.  His teacher, Thelma Ithier, daughter of Rafael Ithier, director of El Gran Combo, continued to train Ray so that he could sing in the school workshops under the direction of Ramon Rodriguez.   Soon thereafter, Ray found work as a singer with a group called Sabor del Pueblo.  Ray also took this time to perform with other groups so that he could acquire as much musical experience and exposure as possible. Inspired by Ismael Rivera, Chamaco Ramirez and Hector Lavoe, Ray will continue to infuse his music with his own style and passion for salsa until God says otherwise.
